ROSALES -- Nineteen two-man teams coming from the different barangays here answered the call for endurance test.
Frederick Raymundo and Martin Alejo's strength, stamina and strategy proved superior among the rest as they conquered the First Ibtor (Inter-Barangay Triathlon of Rosales) Challenge held last December.
First runner-up were Roland and Rhan dela Pena of Barangay Acop, while second runner-up were duo Bobby Caramillo and Freddie Castillo of Barangay Cabalaoangan Norte.
The Ibtor Challenge was a combination of swim-jog or run and cycling using pedicabs, a common mode of transportation here.
Two senior citizens proved they can endure the physical challenge despite their age. Arcadio Tamin and Berting Dorupan finished the race. They received a special award for showing great endurance and determination to be at par, if not better, with the younger athletes.
Rosales Mayor Ricardo Revita said Ibtor Challenge will be an annual event. It will be the town's own festival, which aims to promote their Eco-Tourism site located in Barangay Acop.
The race started at the Acop Dam. All the participants crossed the lake together with their assigned banana trunk. After which, they ran down to where the pedicabs were waiting.
In the last lap, with an abaca rope tied in each other's wrist, the pairs ran to the finish line located at the circle fronting the Municipal Hall here. (LCMY/Sunnex)
