P2M earned from violations By Marites Espartero
THE city government earned P2,523,321.00 in the implementation of several ordinances in Zamboanga for the first three months of the year.
These ordinances violated include the Sanitary Code particularly the 1952 " An Ordinance Codifying All Existing Sanitary Ordinances, Rules and Regulations, to provide suitable Changes and Modifications and other purposes.
This ordinance make it unlawful to throw or deposit any refuse, fecal matter, urine night soil, liquid wastes of any kind or any offensive material in any yard, street, vacant lot, park, plaza, or in any public place riverbanks, beaches, shores or in rivers, creeks or streams, flood drainage system or irrigation canals or any body of water, except in some manner which not liable to cause nuisance and provided it is authorized by the City Health Officer.
An official said that many people still don't know about this ordinance. They don't even know if what is the penalty.
Covered in this ordinance is the ban against urinating in public which carries a fine of P500.00 for the first offense or one thousand pesos (P1, 000) for the second offense in lieu of the penalty impose in section 224.
If the offender cannot pay, he shall, in lieu of the said fine, render community service for one (1) month in case for the first offense of two (2) months in case of the second offense in addition to the additional penalty herein under provided.
If persons who violate any of the foregoing provisions shall, in addition to the above-mentioned penalties shall render community service in his community.
The city treasurer office does not have a breakdown of the P2million peso earnings from the violations of these ordinances. |
