Probe sought over uniforms

THE committees on youth and sports and of awards and good government will conduct an inquiry on the "guerrilla attire" that was reportedly worn by the Zamboanga delegation participating in the regional athletic meet held in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The regional meet is expected to culminate Friday.

It was Councilor Roel Natividad who reported and presented to the City Council the case on the "guerrilla attire" worn by the Zamboanga athletes during the sports events.

By "guerrilla attire," the athletes were wearing old and new uniforms and not what they were supposed to wear for the games.

The lack of uniformity in the attire of the delegation was caused by the failure of the supplier to provide the uniforms to the coaches and athletes on time for the meet.

Natividad said that the Zamboanga delegation was demoralized because the uniforms of the athletes and coaches and official delegation were not completed on time.

Initial reports gathered by Sun.Star Zamboanga show that the winning bidders for the supply of the uniforms were notified last Feb. 21.

However, it was learned that some school officials and coaches refused to allow the winning bidder to measure the sizes of the athletes and all those who will be provided with uniforms.

This was because school officials reportedly assigned another tailor to measure the athletes days before the winning bidder was announced.

Unfortunately, the one who measured the athletes was not the one that won in the bidding.

According to Natividad, a case will be filed against those involved. Letty M. Militante
