City to resume work on suspended projects
MAJORITY of members of the Pre-qualification Bids And Awards Committee (Pbac) have already signed the resolution for the resumption of projects earlier suspended by the Zamboanga City mayor.
The impending approval of projects include the 30 negotiated projects of the city, which has been delayed for four months now.
The signed resolution of the PBAC will be forwarded to the City Council for confirmation.
The suspended infrastructure projects include the City Health Office, the City Auditor's Office, and the City Council at R. T. Lim Boulevard to mention a few.
Even the restoration work project of the old city hall building can now be started the source said.
Months ago all city infra projects were suspended accordingly due to some technicalities and review by the PBAC.
The suspension of these projects worried City Mayor Maria Clara L. Lobregat, who wanted that these projects would be finished before the end of the year.
What also worries then mayor Lobregat are the concerned laborers who were out of their jobs following the suspension of the city's infra projects.
During the last council session dated May 6, 2003, Councilor Charlie Mariano filed a council resolution which was unanimously approved by the body requesting her to honor the city mayor to fast track with authority all suspended city projects and to talk things over with members of the PBAC so that these projects can already be continued before the term of the present administration ends.
Members of the Pre-qualification Bids And Awards Committee are the following: Chairman City Mayor Maria Clara L. Lobregat; Councilor Abdurahman Nuņo representing the minority; NGOs Mr. Viray; Mrs. Yeo, Mr. Harina; City Treasurer Soledad L. Li and Councilor Isabelle Climaco chairman of the Committee on Appropriations. JEA
