Lobregat starts clean-up vs Sars

Mayor Maria Clara L. Lobregat ordered the start of a "clean up campaign" in Zamboanga City starting Friday, amid the increase in the number of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars) cases worldwide.

Lobregat issued the directive to local officials, particularly the 98 barangays officials to lead in conducting the clean up campaign for one hour in their respective areas of responsibility, during the Sars summit held Thursday.

City Councilor Milabel Velasquez said the one-hour clean up campaign this Friday would be an awareness drive aside from the information campaigns presently conducted by the Department of Health (DOH) and other line agencies.

Velasquez said the clean-up campaign as approved and directed by the Local Chief Executive will involve everyone in the community.

Velasquez said that cleaning our surroundings is one of the preventive tips on how one can combat Sars. LMM
