Military, MILF clash in Lamitan
By Mei M. Garcing

GOVERNMENT forces clashed for ten minutes with some 15 rebels at the boundary of Sitio Pinandakan, Barangay Parang Basak and Barangay Bohe Ibuh in Lamitan Wednesday morning.

Soldiers recovered one M16 rifle, a Garand rifle, 90 rounds of ammunition and a backpack during the clearing operations.

Southern Command Spokesmen Lt. Col. Renoir Pascua said the group made of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Abu Sayyaf rebels were preparing to leave Basilan to reinforce the Siocon attackers when the soldiers spotted them.

In the Zamboanga peninsula soldiers are still pursuing the rebels who attacked Siocon town last Sunday dawn.
