New garbage trucks expected

THREE badly needed compactor garbage trucks are expected to be delivered to the Zamboanga City Public Service Office within this month.

City Public Service Office Chief Engineer Reynaldo Gonzales said the three compactor garbage trucks would be much bigger than the present ones as they have a capacity of 10 cubic meters.

The three Hyundai compactor garbage trucks are Korean made. He did not give any price tags for the units, except that money for the purchase came from the old budget of the city.

Engr. Gonzales lamented that there are only 8 compactor garbage trucks collecting garbage in the city. The eight units of compactor garbage trucks operate 18 hours a day without rest. Only drivers are being shifted.

Furthermore, Gonzales said that the present compactor garbage trucks easily bog down as most of these were second hand units purchased during the Agan administration.

Every repair will extend the usability of the truck for at least two months before the unit will break down anew. JEA
