Gov't employees still 'morally upright'

THE majority and rank and file in the government bureaucracy in Zamboanga City are still considered to be morally upright, City Mayor Maria Clara Lobregat said.

When asked about the pronouncement that President Arroyo wants a morality check on government officials, she replied with an "I don't think so."

However, Lobregat said that if ever there is a need to check the morals of city government officials, this must also include other personalities like the media practitioners.

An international transparency survey showed that the Philippines ranked third in Asia and 11th in the entire world as far as graft and corruption in government is concerned. LMY
