Trade market to be converted into parking lot
MAYOR Maria Clara Lobregat plans to convert the area behind Zamboanga City Hall, presently occupied by the Zambagora Barter Trade Market, as a parking area for public utility vehicles.
The earlier plan was to use the area to relocate the city fire station.
The idea of a fire station was to ensure that the building would be kept free from destruction by fire with a fire station nearby.
It was also argued that a fire station near City Hall would ensure the presence of fire station guards who can extend security to the building.
The mayor said the use of the Zambagora area for a parking space will help keep the old public market clean with the dispersal of vehicles in the vicinity.
