Bizmen-candidates top bankers' mock polls
THREE businessmen who are candidates for the City Council seats topped the mock polls conducted among the bankers in Zamboanga City.
The Zamboanga press Club Inc. released the results of its recent mock polls administered on 50 employees of different local banks in Zamboanga City.
The pollsters are Mass Communication students of Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
Included in the top five choices for the City Council seats are candidates Nonong Guingona, whose family is known to be involved in lumber yard business, Eddie Saavedra, who owns the Chimang Cusina Chavacano in Tugbungan, Rudy Lim, who is not only a barangay kagawad but also involved in poultry business.
In the said mock polls, President Arroyo garnered 30 percent of the total respondents while Sen. Ping Lacson got 26 percent then followed by Fernando Poe Jr. who obtained only 14 percent, Raul Roco -- 8 percent, Eddie Gil -- 4 percent, Eddie Villanueva -- 2 percent. There were 16 percent of the polled bankers who said they were still undecided.
For the vice president, Noli de Castro mustered 50 percent while Loren Legarda got only 20 percent and Herminio Aquino 8 percent. Ten percent of the respondents were undecided on vice president's position. Twenty-two percent of the respondents were undecided.
The top 12 senatorial candidates in the bankers mock polls are: Mar Roxas-72 percent, Dick Gordon-60 percent, Jamby Madrigal-44 percent, Miriam Santiago-42 percent, Nene Pimentel-40 percent, Johnny Enrile-38 percent, Pia Cayetano-34 percent, Alfredo Lim-34 percent, Bong Revilla-32 percent, Ernie Maceda-32 percent, John Osmena-30 percent, and Rodolfo Biazon-24 percent.
In the local level, 50 percent of the polled bankers chose Erbie Fabian for congressman over Manny Dalipe's 18 percent and Rey Camins' 14 percent.
Meanwhile, mayoralty aspirant Celso Lobregat is way ahead with 54 percent of his contenders Charlie Mariano and Le Peng Wee who both shared 14 percent each of the respondents while Andy Guardian registered a meager 2 percent.
On the other hand, vice mayor Beng Climaco marked 56 percent while her rival Jimmy Cabato got 26 percent and 18 percent of the polled votes went to undecided.
