Safety consultant jumps to his death
By Nelly Martinez

A CONSULTANT of a safety organization project jumped to his death from the rooftop of a sixth floor building, at Gov. Lim Avenue, this city.

PO3 Alexander Delos Reyes identified him as Bong Atilano, 32, of Maasin, a consultant of Safety Organization Project of the Philippines.

The authorities identified him through an identification card found inside his wallet. The ID also bore the name of the victim's mother Luisa Atilano, of Maasin, as the person to notify in case of emergency.

Initial investigation disclosed that at around 11:15 a.m., Atilano went up the sixth floor of the Doņa Vicenta building, then went on to climb the building's rooftop and without any hesitation jumped to his death.

The security guard detailed at the RGMA Super Radyo, identified as Rey Lubiano, told the police that while he was busy attending to listeners of the station's radio promo, he saw Atilano spurt towards way, leading to the rooftop.

Lubiano said he chased the victim and managed to pull his legs but Atilano warned against a forthcoming trouble if he continues to interfere.

At that point, Atilano was already climbing the stairs leading to the rooftop of the building, after he managed to escape from Lubiano's grip.

Lubiano said he noticed later that there was a commotion downstairs and learned about the suicide.

Atilano died upon arrival at the Zamboanga City Medical Center due to severe head injuries.

His body was then taken to the Villa Funeral Parlor for autopsy. The police are investigating the case further.
