Friday, August 06, 2004 City Council building contractor asks for P50M budget
CITY Mayor Celso L. Lobregat said that the contractor undertaking the P50M construction of the new City Council building along R.T. Boulevard is requesting an additional funding.
Mayor Lobregat gathered from Bendimil that the needed additional amount would be used for the purposed of purchasing and installation of an elevator, air-conditioning unit, generating set, and for some features to be modified at the Session Hall.
These were the things apparently that were not appropriated for in the construction of the new building.
In response, Mayor Lobregat has requested the contractor to review the plans and take note of what were not acted upon and present it to him in a final version.
Mayor Lobregat said that whatever the amount being asked by the contractor it can not be released under the 2004 budget, but, instead, in the 2005 executive budget of the city.
The construction of the new building has been going on for a year now, and some sectors doubt it will be completed within the year.
The new building is a three-storey edifice with a deck on top.
Several city councilors have contributed to augment the fund use for the construction of the new building.
