THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional office has launched the Pamilihang Panlalawigan search, a competition aimed to ensure strict compliance of existing fair trade laws.
A regional selection team to conduct the search, assess and evaluate entries from the different provinces and cities and municipalities in Zamboanga Peninula has been organized recently.
Samir Abubakar of the DTI regional office said the regional assessment will be done in Pagadian City middle of this month.
Winners in local level will compete in the Regional Search and the winner of which will be the region's entry in the national competition dubbed as "Pambansang Pamilihan."
Abubakar said the search hopes to ensure not only the compliance of fair trade laws and consciousness on the welfare of consumers, but also to ensure standard quality of goods and services as well as cleanliness in the surroundings.
"This (competition) will be a sort of motivation to businessmen to comply with existing fair trade laws," Abubakar said in an interview over radio the other day.
The regional selection team is composed of different government and non-government agencies.
The team will hold a caravan to Pagadian City next week.
