Health office sanctions fast food store By Jess E. Alcoran
A FAST food establishment is facing sanctions from the City Health Office for violation of the sanitary code.
This followed after the Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology Brenda Nazareth found something else other than the fried rice placed inside a box she ordered from the fast food store.
Chairman of the Committee on Health and Sanitation Milabel Velasquez said this during an interview with Sun.Star Zamboanga Monday.
Nazareth was said to be halfway in her meal of the fried rice when she discovered a piece of white tissue in the food.
Nazareth wrote City Mayor Celso Lobregat the same day she bought the meal from the fast food store.
City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos immediately directed a team of sanitary inspectors to investigate those who are preparing the food at the said establishment.
At the same time, a picture was taken of the food to show proof that, indeed, there was white tissue mixed in the fried rice, which was brought to the City Health Office as evidence.
The sanitary inspectors from the City Health Office, upon inspection of the said establishment, discovered that there was no sufficient waste receptacle in the kitchen of the food establishment.
Agbulos has recommended a re-orientation of the personnel and the crew of the kitchen of the fast food store on food protection, quality and safety.
The same fast food outlet was the subject of a complaint last year by an official of the city government.
