Journalist killer surrenders By Jun Feliciano
GUILLERMO Wapile, alleged killer of Pagadian journalist Edgar Damalerio, gave up and was formally turned over to Camp Crame Monday morning.
Police regional (PRO9) director Chief Supt. Servando Hizon accompanied Wapile to Camp Crame for presentation to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Edgar Aglipay.
Hizon had a meeting with PNP officers led by Aglipay at Camp Crame.
"He (Wapile) is now in Camp Crame. I am here as I accompanied him here," Hizon replied when reached by Sun.Star.
Hizon earlier revealed that prior to his scheduled transfer to his new post at the PNP Crime Laboratory he would produce Wapile to his superior in Camp Crame.
Aglipay reported Wapile's arrest as having been arrested the other week by the Pagadian police.
Hizon is said to be also zeroing in on the twin-unsolved gun-slayings of local broadcasters Rey Bancairin and Jun Cayona.
Hizon's post here will be assumed by Chief Supt. Vidal Querol, his classmate of PMA class 73.
But many here are still hopeful that Hizon can still be retained with the clamor of top officials here in the region, following the successful surrender of Wapile.
