Apprehended gunrunner yields guns, ammo
BONGAO, Tawi-Tawi -- Government operatives apprehended a suspected gunrunner while the suspect was on board a vessel at 5:30 a.m., last Oct. 1, at the Bongao wharf.
Southern Command chief Maj. General Generoso Senga identified the suspected gun-runner as Atti Sarrah Gadjali, who was on board the M/V Ever Queen Asia, at Bongao pier, when the apprehending team responded to a report that a suspected gun-runner was one of the passengers of the said vessel.
Recovered from Gadjali's possession were three Colt handguns, one Llama handgun, four .45-caliber magazines, one .38-caliber pistol, one M203 grenade launcher, one bolo, four .45-caliber magazines, one .38-caliber magazine, four side holster, 147 rounds of .30-caliber ammunition, 25 rounds of .38-caliber ammunition, 39 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition, five M-16 magazines, one PNP badge, one magazine pouch, one rear sight for a .45-caliber, and one M-16 bandoleer.
Meanwhile, at least, 150 sacks of smuggled rice were seized by joint elements of the Bureau of Customs IX, the National Bureau of Investigation and Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 last Monday, at Barangay Talon-Talon, this city, the Southern Command said.
The sacks of smuggled rice were confiscated following a raid at the house of a certain Antonio Ramos.
The confiscated sacks of rice were believed to have come from Malaysia and are allegedly owned by a certain alias Saddam.
However, the owner failed to present complete papers to justify his claim on the goods.
