FOUR of five governors of the provinces that constitute the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) will meet here today, July 3, in what could have been considered a giant-leap effort to help address social and political concerns facing the region.
Last Thursday, Governors Datu Andal Ampatuan Sr. (Maguindanao), Wahab Akbar (Basilan) Benjamin Loong (Sulu) and Sadikul Sahali (Tawi-Tawi) met in Marawi City along with mayors of 60 Armm towns, drawing consensus on local governments' active participation in shaping up the future of the region.

Consumer groups ask gov't to monitor price rollback
THE Supreme Court decision to temporarily stop the implementation of the expanded value-added tax (EVAT) led consumer groups to ask the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to monitor the impact on the prices of basic commodities made by the July 1st implementation of the law, and ask businessmen who implemented EVAT that day to roll back it prices.

Foundation spearheads blood typing for dengue patients
IN THE midst of a dengue outbreak in the city, Tzu Chi Foundation, a private charitable organization, in coordination with the city government and other agencies, will hold today, July 3, a blood typing activity for potential donors in a bid to ensure sufficient blood supply in cases of transfusion requirements due to dengue or other eventualities in the future.
