Health office launches massive anti-polio vaccination

THE massive polio immunization program in this city started yesterday, as Mayor Celso L. Lobregat appealed to parents to bring their children, five years old and below, to the nearest barangay health center to have their kids vaccinated.

The program was launched by the World Health Organization, in cooperation with the Department of Health, United Nations International Children's Education Fund and the city government, because of the resurgence of the viral disease in Indonesia last March that inflicted more than 50 children.

Lobregat issued the appeal as health workers begun manning their posts as early as Sunday in anticipation of the droves of children that would turnout yesterday.

Last Saturday evening Lobregat conferred with City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos for a smooth conduct of yesterday activity, which will run through Sept. 5.
