SCC Palaro 2005 kicks off

THE annual sports festival dubbed, Palarong SCC 2005, kicked off Saturday morning with more than 2,000 students joining the parade from Nuñez Road Extension the Southern City Colleges campus along Pilar Street, this city.

SCC Executive Vice President Edwin Caliolio said that the sports event is also in preparation for the school's 59th foundation anniversary next month.

Caliolio believes that the sports activity is one way of strengthening the competitive spirits of the students.

He also hopes that it would develop teamwork among the different departments of the said school.

"I hope that this activity would also bring in the "Bayanihan" spirit of the students who are facing many challenges in life, I hope that this could also influence our students to help the country someday," Caliolio said.

He said that basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis and other sports events, including cheer dance and Mr. & Miss SCC Palaro pageant, highlight the sports activity.

The various games started yesterday and will end Friday afternoon with so many prizes at stake for the winners of the different sport events. (b>(PR)
