Brod kills own brod
A man was butchered to death by his own brother due to petty matters last Thursday, at San Pedro, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.
Dead on the spot was Rogelio Saverillo, 25, married. The suspect was his younger brother, Godefredo, 23, single.
A police report disclosed that prior to the incident, at about 4:30 pm, the victim and his brother figured in a heated argument due to petty matters.
The suspect reportedly got irked at the victim for allegedly shouting unsavory words at him in the presence of his friends.
At this juncture, the suspect confronted the victim, and this resulted in a fistfight.
The suspect, who was armed with a 12-inch bolo, used it to attack his brother. The victim succumbed to multiple hack wounds in the different parts of his body and died on the spot.
The police who learned about the incident swooped down on the place, but failed to arrest the suspect who escaped prior to their arrival.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old farmer was stabbed to death by his neighbor the other day at Bag-ong Kahayag, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur.
The fatality, who was identified as Maneto Dumingues, single, succumbed to a lone stab wound on his chest.
A belated report reaching the Police Regional Office 9 here disclosed that at about 10 p.m., the victim was walking on his way home when the suspect who surfaced from behind stabbed the victim before fleeing to an unknown direction.
The police identified the suspect as Ricky Watemar, who allegedly holds a grudge against the victim. (R. Antonio)
