Citizenship duty redounds to improved services: Vice mayor
VICE Mayor Beng Climaco called for a strengthened citizenship responsibility in the coming New Year while the City Government is bent on intensifying social services.
Social services includes programs for health, nutrition, education and livelihood assistance for the people, but the local government will not succeed in its efforts without the citizens complying their duties and responsibilities such as paying the right amount of taxes, according to the vice mayor.
She said citizenship responsibility would redound to improved and increased services to the people.
The City Government spends so much for the delivery of services to the residents. However, this would not be possible without the people complementing the efforts.
Zamboanga City should be united in the effort as well as resolve to attain progress and development, the vice mayor appealed.
The City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Celso Lobregat and the vice mayor is striving for an increased collection of local taxes through the passage of additional revenue measures.
The expected hike in the local tax collection is aimed to cater to the needs of the people on education, health, housing and resettlement and livelihood opportunities among others, according to Climaco.
Meanwhile, the lady vice mayor has called on the residents to celebrate the New Year with the family with the Lord Almighty as the center of the festivity.
Also, she urged the Zamboanguenos to avoid firecrackers that may cause injuries, fire or other accidents on New Year's Eve.
"We should offer thanks to the Lord for the year that was", the vice mayor appealed. She said there are many reasons to thank God this New Year stressing that the Almighty has been and will always be the guiding light of Zamboanga City. (Press release)
