Armm guv assures project implementation transparency By Bong Garcia
AUTONOMOUS Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) Governor Zaldy Ampatuan has assured the officials of the Alliance for Mindanao Off-grid Renewable Energy (Amore), United States Assistance for International Development (USAid), Mirant Philippines Foundation and Winrock International that the project implementation in his region will be "in accordance to the pillars of his administration," especially on transparency.
This, after Amore Chief of Party Tetchi Cruz-Capellan announced that they "remained committed to electrify more than 6,000 households in 189 villages in the Armm until September 2009."
"I assure everyone that the implementation of these projects shall always be in accordance to my policy of good governance, transparency and accountability, all of which are the pillars of my administration when I assumed office as Regional Governor," Ampatuan said in a message.
"I am well aware that such projects under the sponsorship of USAid are funded through hard earned American taxpayers' money, and hence, funds shall be spent and utilized prudently, wisely and efficiently for the benefit of all the stakeholders and most of all the barangays and communities in the Armm," he added.
Ampatuan's message was read by his liaison officer Moslemin Bansuan on Saturday during the turn over of US$24 million rural electrification projects to Armm by Amore.
Amore's rural electrification project uses stand-alone energy systems powered by non-global-warming and sustainable renewable energy indigenous sources like photovoltaic battery charging stations, photovoltaic solar home systems and microhydro power systems.
Ampatuan said he and his constituents are appreciative of the electrification project of Amore as these are geared towards the enhancement of the living condition of the people especially in the conflict-affected areas.
