THE Technical Educational Schools and Development Authority (Tesda) is continuously conducting an on-line examination of applicants for call center scholarships in the region.
Tesda information officer Jocelyn Wee said the examination is being given every Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Tesda regional office in Zamboanga City.
Wee said those who will pass the examination will receive P5,000 scholarship coupon to undergo 100-hour training for call center agents.
Eights schools in the region, seven of which are located in this city and one in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, were accredited by Tesda to conduct training for call center agent scholars.
Wee said more than 600 have taken the on-line examination given by Tesda in this city and Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay province.
Wee said that since July, this year, Tesda has distributed a total of 350 Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) coupons for the Finishing Course for Call Center Agents (FCCCA) in the region.
FCCCA is a 100-hour training program designed to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes of a Contact Center Representative in accordance with industry standards.
The training covers two core competencies-Communicate Effectively in a Customer Contact Center and Render Quality Customer Service.
All the graduates of this course are referred to call center companies for interview and eventual employment for those who will qualify, according to Wee.
A Davao-based call center company known as G-Com will soon put up its own facility in this city. The company officials have been interviewing all the graduates for possible employment.
The TWSP is a scholarship program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for 100,000 qualified scholars in the country.
President Arroyo has allocated P500 million for the program.
The last day of the on-line examination will be on December 21, according to Wee.
She said they have also started administering medical transcription examination.
The applicants must be not less than 18 years old and not more than 55 years of age and should be, at least, high school graduate to qualify to take both examinations.
