THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) is reviving Operations Plan "Balik Rehistro, Abot Serbisyo Program aimed to bring government service closer to the people.
LTO Assistant Regional Director Yull Lamping said it is a nationwide program to encourage owners of unregistered vehicles, especially of public utilities, to process their registrations and renewals of papers.
Under the program that was conceptualized by LTO chief Reynaldo Berroya, personnel from the agency will visit remote areas where transport owners could process their papers.
It is also aimed to reduce the volume of people who are expected to flock to the different offices of the LTO in the different parts of the country thereby making it easy for the agency personnel in attending the transport owners.
Lamping disclosed the LTO regional office has been promoting the program prior to its revival that resulted to improved flow of collections.
He said that the regional office has created a special operations task force to run after unregistered vehicles and implement Republic Act 4136 and other traffic laws.
He said the special operations that started in November will end this month.
Meanwhile, Lamping announced that LTO Jolo will be fully automated next month with the help of Stradcom, the agency's IT provider.
