PPA police to install surveillance cams inside port
By Bong Garcia

THE Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is installing surveillance camera to boost security measures at the local wharf.

Local PPA police chief Capt. Francisco Clavecillas said the installation of surveillance cameras would enable them to monitor the movement of people going in and out of the local port.

Clavecillas said the cameras would be installed in strategic places at the wharf, so that the security personnel could closely watch all sections of the wharf.

It would be manned by the police personnel assigned with the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU), according to Clavecillas.

He said the surveillance cameras would be donated by the United States.

The local port serves as the initial disembarkation point for travelers from the different provinces in the region in going from and to other key cities of the country.

Earlier, Clavecillas said that they would designate the gate in Corcuera Street as the main entry point for passengers of all type of boats leaving this city.

The designation of one entry point for passengers would enable them to thoroughly inspect all people entering the port including baggage.

The gate in R.T. Lim Boulevard will be the entry point for cargoes.

Clavecillas said two x-ray machines will be installed at the passenger terminal shed to be used for inspection of baggage and passengers.
