US SOLDIERS participating in the Cooperation Afloat and Readiness Training (Carat) 2007 will help the Department of Education (Deped) in the conduct of "Balik Eskwela" program in Zamboanga City.
The Balik Eskwela is a yearly program of Deped, usually implemented before the month of June, in readying school facilities for use in the coming school year.
A group of US soldiers will help clean and refurbish chairs and tables on Saturday at the Boalan Elementary School, east of this city.
Boalan Elementary School Principal Arnold Aba-a said the participation of the US troops in the Balik Eskwela program would be of great help to them.
The US forces will also turn over donated books to the school library of Boalan.
At least 132 libraries of schools here in Western Mindanao will benefit from the books donation program of the United States Assistance for International Development (Usaid).
There will be also mini-sports fest on Saturday, at Boalan Elementary School, and will be participated in by US soldiers.
