Wednesday, August 29, 2007 DOST offers e-Training for science, math teachers
THE Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (Dost-SEI) announces the 2007 e-Training for Elementary Science and Mathematics Teachers program in November 2007.
The e-Training is a 10-month online training designed to upgrade the competency of science and math teachers in the elementary level.
The training will run from November 2007 until August 2008. This program will allow teachers to avail themselves of the latest technology in distance learning without leaving their teaching assignments.
Applicants for the program should be Filipino citizens actually teaching (either in private or public elementary schools) Grades 3, 4, 5, or 6 science and/or math subjects but is a non-major in that subject.
The applicant should have basic computer and Internet skills, must be willing and able to learn online, and with reliable access to the Internet. He/she must not have attended any RSTC teacher training program, must be committed to teach in the Philippines, and must be willing to sign a scholarship contract with DOST-SEI.
Successful applicants will be entitled to the following benefits: waived training fee of P6,000 for the duration of the training, free training materials, P500 IT allowance per month, travel expenses for the orientation session and midterm and final examinations, and 50 percent cost of a personal computer if scholar decides to purchase the PC from DBM's procurement service.
Applicants are advised to apply and register online at www.sei.dost.gov.ph/e-training or www.e-training.ph. Accomplished Application Form (Form 1) should be filled-out and submitted not later than 24 September 2007.
Certification Form (Form 2) must be accomplished by the principal/head of institution and must be received by Dost-SEI not later than October 1, 2007.
The participants for each course will attend a one-day face-to-face Orientation Session by DOST on November 10, 2007.
