Now on its 4th year, the badminton tourney was conceived by the congresswoman when she was still the city’s vice mayor purposely to promote camaraderie and friendship among players from different agencies.

A total of 56 players will compete with each other in the different categories set for the tourney.

The participating agencies are the Western Mindanao Command, City Government of Zamboanga, Western Mindanao State University, Edwin Andrews Air Base, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Philippine Ports Authority, City Health Office, Department of Health, Social Security System, Commission on Audit, Department of Tourism, and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.

The tournament will be held at the LB Badminton Center, Veterans Avenue-Tumaga extension.

Opening ceremony will start at 8:30 a.m. with Congressman Climaco herself gracing the event.

Climaco has enjoined the public -- women or men to engage in badminton, a racket sport played by either two opposing players (singles) or two opposing pairs (doubles), who take positions on opposite halves of a rectangular court that is divided by a net. (SEC)
