Climaco hosts Iftar in WMSU

IN THE spirit of unity and solidarity, First District Congresswoman Beng Climaco will join the Muslim community in Western Mindanao State University in the breaking of the fast dubbed “Iftar” or pagbukah Wednesday.

The activity is in close coordination with WMSU President Dr. Grace Rebollos, Executive Vice President Dr. Milabel Ho, and the Director for Public Affairs Office Professor Ali Yacub.

The hosting of the Iftar is the second for the congresswoman who also hosted a similar ceremony for the Muslim Community in the Ateneo de Zamboanga University last week.

Climaco expressed belief that breaking fast with the Muslim community is a grand opportunity to dramatize inter-faith respect and understanding, which she stressed, is very essential in creating a society rooted in values and where people peacefully coexist.

The Iftar or pagbukah is part of the solemn observance of the holy month of Ramadan, which culminates October 12, the same day when the Catholic faithful in Zamboanga will celebrate the feast day of Nuestra Senora la Virgen del Pilar.

“I am so touched by the opportunity to share food in one bowl with my Muslim brethrens” the lawmaker emphasized.

The Iftar at WMSU will be held at the WMSU president’s lobby. It will commence at exactly 5:30 p.m. (SEC)
