Saturday, November 17, 2007 Tesda, lawmaker distribute scholarship certificates
DISTRICT I Congresswoman Beng Climaco and the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (Tesda) regional office Friday formally turned over scholarship certificates entitling free education to 10 college students for this school year’s second semester.
The grant, amounting to P50, 000 was made possible through the intervention of the lady solon and is part of the PGMA Training for Work and Ladderized Education Program, a scholarship program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for indigent students.
Climaco said the scholarship covers courses under the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering offered at the Mein college in San Jose Gusu and the Immaculate Conception Archdiocesan School.
The awarding program was held at the Lotus Restaurant Friday morning and was graced by Tesda Regional Director Zeus Ampuyas and former City Schools Supt. Abdurahim Kenoh.
The lady solon said the scholarship program is in line with her advocacy in education and the protection and welfare of the youths.
She said another scholarship grant amounting to P100,000 will be given to another set of college students next year.
Last month, Climaco, in coordination with the AMA computer center, distributed scholarship grants to over 20 students.
The grant was a 50-50 percent share of the congresswoman and AMA computer center. (SEC)
