2 Zambo female weightlifters bound for Thailand

TWO Zamboanguena weightlifters, who broke in last month’s national competition, are leaving soon to compete in the 24th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Thailand.

They are Hidilyn Diaz and Cecilia Atilano, both students of Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ).

Diaz broke the national records in snatch and clean and jerk in the youth and open division in the 58 kilogram category.

Atilano broke the national record in snatch in the open and collegiate division in the 63 kilogram category.

Coach and Manager Elbert Atilano said the two will participate in the scheduled Seag from December 6 to 15 in Nakhon Rachasima, Thailand.

Diaz and Atilano together with their coach paid courtesy to Mayor Celso Lobregat on Thursday before they left for Manila en route to Bangkok.

Atilano had high hopes that they will be able to bagged medal that are at stake during the scheduled Thailan competition.
