ZCPO Women's and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) chief Esperanza Santiago said they managed to round up a total of 29 individuals, 24 minors and five mendicants last Friday.
Santiago said they were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for counseling and eventual return to their respective families.
She said the campaign is in line with the directive of Senior Superintendent Lurimer Detran, ZCPO officer-in-charge, to get rid of street children and mendicants in downtown streets.
Aside from being eyesores, Detran ordered the round up of street children following reports that some of them are allegedly involved in petty crimes like robbery and snatching.
They have observed some of these children snipping solvent and pestering pedestrians for alms. (Lordhan Cruz/BPG)
