THE Mindanao Economic Development Council (Medco) has sought the help of officials in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) to fast track the implementation of development projects in the provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
Medco Undersecretary Virgilio Leyretana said they encountered problems on right-of-way in the implementation of major infrastructure projects in the two provinces.
Worth millions of pesos, the Jolo Water Supply System Improvement Project, Tawi-Tawi Bridge-Road Partnership Construction Project, and Bongao Airport Improvement Project are funded by Growth with Equity in Mindanao (Gem).
Gem is one of the donor institutions helping in developing Mindanao.
Leyretanan said the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) would also shell out a counterpart of P2 million for the Jolo Water Supply System Improvement Project.
He added that Tawi-Tawi Bridge-Road Partnership Construction Project includes the improvement of Sanga-Sanga and Lapid-Lapid road sections in the province.
The survey and design preparation for Bongao Airport Improvement Project is also underway, he stressed.
