Tuesday, May 13, 2008 Cops nab woman using fake title as collateral
OPERATIVES of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) arrested a 72-year-old widow last Sunday for using fake land title in paying her close to P1 million debts.
Arrested was Zenaida Tan, a resident of Pasonanca village, north of this city.
Tan's arrests came after the complainant Nida Tambul reported to the police about her illegal activity.
Tambul told the police that she was given a falsified land title by Tan in paying her P800,000 debts to the former.
The police learned from the Register of Deeds assistant chief Jaybee Robert Baginda that it was the fifth time the suspect has adopted such tactic in paying her debts to her creditors.
For four occasions in the past, the suspect has allegedly used falsified land title as collaterals in her previous transactions.
Tan was brought to the City Prosecutor's Office for inquest proceeding.
The suspect represented by a lawyer availed her right to a preliminary investigation and was detained at the ZCPO waiting for the completion of the preliminary probe on her case. (Lordhan C. Cruz/BPG)
