1st motocross hits Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGUEÑOS witnessed the 1st Motocross Invitational Competition last Saturday and Sunday at the Hanjin Racetrack in Divisoria, Zamboanga City.

City Councilors Eddie Saavedra and Nonong Guingona graced the two-day competition that started at 9:00 a.m. with an opening program.

Motocross riders from Cebu, Ozamis, Bukidnon, Davao, Pagadian, Ipil, and Lamitan, Basilan joined the competition.

The race was categorized into 12 events, two of which were exclusively for Zamboanga participants.

The events were Pro Expert, Expert, Amateur, Novice, Beginners-A, Executive Open, Stocks 125cc, Beginners-B, Mini Open 125cc, Mini Open 110/100, Mini Open 125 and Mini Open 110cc/100cc.

The organizers said that the event was supposed to be an international race competition but countries invited were not able to attend.

Joey Torribio, one of the organizers, said some zamboangueños are fascinated about the sports thus they brought it to Zamboanga City.
