Responding policemen arrested Saripa after he freed his hostage following a negotiation.

The police reported that the suspect held hostage his sister, Halima, 22, due to a family problem.

Authorities learned that the suspect got angry when he was not given an allowance.

The father, whose name was not indicated in the report, tried to pacify his son but was in turn assaulted by the latter, the report said.

The police however could not press charges against the suspect since the victims refused pursue the charges. (Lordhan C. Cruz/BPG)
