THE City Government has ordered the permanent closure of 36 stalls in the city's main public market found to be delinquent in the payment of rental fees.
Acting City Administrator Elmeir Apolinario disclosed that the occupants of the 36 stalls have been found to be delinquent in the payment of rental fees since 2006.
Apolinario said the occupants of the stalls have been notified of their back rentals and were issued demands to pay.
The arrears remain unpaid despite issuance of the notices and the final demand to pay, said Apolinario.
He said based on Section 41 of the marker code, cancellation of license or business permit and the removal of temporary shed of shanty will be made upon failure of tenant to pay the rent.
In a letter to Mayor Celso Lobregat, Apolinario recommended closure to the stalls.
The City Treasurer's Office, City Licensing Division, City Engineer's Office, and the police served the notice of closure to the concerned market stalls occupants. (Bong P. Garcia)
