A VILLAGE chief of an island barangay of Zamboanga City was found dead Friday inside a room of a pension house.

The police reported that Alpad was found dead at Room 146 of La Terraza Pension House with stab wounds in the body.

They learned that before the incident, a woman identified as Jade Alpad checked in at La Terraza around 5 p.m. of September 4.

They further said that an hour later, the slain village chief arrived and proceeded to the woman's room.

At 6:15 p.m. of September 4, Jade went out and returned about 45 minutes after bringing some food she bought outside of the pension house.

Pension house personnel told police they heard a commotion inside Room 146 around 7:45 p.m.

At 7:50 p.m. of the same day, the woman was seen leaving the room. She did not return. A day after, the village chief was discovered dead.

Police recovered beside Alpad's body a chisel that was believed to be the weapon used in killing the village official.

Authorities are conducting an investigation on the incident and are looking for the woman, who is being eyed as a suspect in the village chief's death. (Bong P. Garcia)
