Friday, September 12, 2008 2 BJMP personnel injured in strafing
A COUPLE who are personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) was injured in a strafing incident in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a police official said Thursday.
Zamboanga Peninsula Police Office (ZPPO) information officer Senior Superintendent Mario Fermindoza said the incident took place around 11:45 p.m. Monday in Barangay Bolantoc, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur province.
Fermindoza identified the injured BJMP personnel as Jail Officer I (JO1) Anastacio Ramos, Jr., and his wife JO1 Farah Joy, both assigned at the Pagadian City Reformatory Center.
He said the couple was aboard a motorcycle on the way to report for duty when strafed by the gunmen aboard a black pick-up type vehicle.
Ramos was admitted at the Pagadian City Medical Center and in critical condition while his wife sustained minor injuries.
Investigation is underway to unmask the suspects, according to Fermindoza. (BPG)
