Tuesday, November 04, 2008 Gunman kills ex-DENR employee
A RETIRED employee of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional office was gunned down in Zamboanga City Sunday, the police said.
The victim who died on the spot was identified as Virgilio Jasmin. The incident took place in the afternoon of Sunday in the village of Guiwan, east of Zamboanga City.
The police learned that Jasmin has just boarded a motorized tricycle after disembarking from a bus that came from Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay when shot by a lone assailant.
The driver of the motorized tricycle told the police that Jasmin has requested to stop at a pharmacy before fetching him to the Zamboanga International Airport coming from the bus terminal.
The gunman, after shooting the victim, boarded on a waiting motorcycle that went to an unknown direction.
Police investigation continues to unmask the gunman and determine the motive of the incident. (Bong Garcia)
