Bookkeeper stab to death
By Bong Garcia

THE local police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the suspects and the motive behind the killing of a bookkeeper of the provincial engineer's office in the island province of Sulu.

A police report said the incident took place Thursday night along Corcuera Street downtown while the victim, along with two companions, was on the way to the local wharf.

The police identified the victim as Ramon Esquildo, 54, a resident of Kasalamatan village in Jolo, the capital of the province of Sulu.

Esquildo succumbed to a stab wound in the abdomen. He underwent treatment at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

The police learned from Esquildo's companions that two men blocked their path along the intersection of Corcuera and N.S. Valderosa Streets and one of the suspects suddenly stab the bookkeeper.

They told the police that the suspects fled towards the City Hall after stabbing Esquildo.

They failed to recognize any of the suspects.

Initially, the police theorize that the incident has something to do with the victim's job as a bookkeeper.
