Thursday, January 15, 2009 Text sender demands ransom for missing businessman
A TOP police official advised the family of a missing businessman, feared to have been kidnapped, not to immediately give credence to text messages they receive, especially from people they don't know.
Senior Superintendent Mario Yanga, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, gave the advice Wednesday after the family of the businessman continued to receive text messages.
On Wednesday, the family of Eliseo Hablo informed the police that they received a text message asking for ransom in exchange for the businessman's release.
Hablo, 44, a franchise holder of a bakery chain and a fishing magnate, has been missing since Thursday.
The last information about Hablo was that he left his bakery outlet in the village of San Jose Gusu Thursday evening to check his bakery branch in Sta. Maria village.
Since then, his whereabouts remain unknown except that his personal service vehicle was recovered with bloodstains Friday morning in the village of San Roque.
It has not been known, however, how much ransom the text sender is demanding.
Yanga said his personnel continue the search to locate Hablo's whereabouts. (Bong Garcia)
