Monday, April 25, 2011
ROBINSONS Place Tacloban is beefing up its portfolio through a mall expansion and a new budget hotel in response to the huge demand for mall space from patrons within the Eastern Visayas region.
"The warm reception of the market has emboldened us to increase our investment in Tacloban, so that we could give our patrons even more choices to enhance their lifestyle," said Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) General Manager for Commercial Centers Division Arlene Magtibay in a press statement.
"We believe the Tacloban market is ready and eager for newer and more unique offerings," Magtibay added.
Opened in June 2009, the mall has quickly become the favorite shopping and recreational destination of Leyte and Samar residents, as well as those from the neighboring provinces.
The expansion will add some 7,000 square meters of floor space to the existing mall. It will house an additional two cinemas, bringing the total cinemas to five, more restaurants, wellness establishments, and specialty stores.
"This early, we have pre-leased a good number of spaces as tenant interest in Tacloban is quite high," Magtibay added.
Recently awarded as the 2010 Shopping Center of the Year (Small Category) by the Philippine Retailer's Association, Robinsons Place Tacloban continues to serve over two million people of the region.
Conveniently located along Taboan National Highway in Marasbaras, the Robinsons Place showcases a unique and exciting tenant mix, which offers an exceptional line of delectable cuisines, trendy apparel, comfortable footwear, modern gadgets and electronics, as well as service outlets.
Also to rise beside the expansion mall is RLC's first gohotels.ph branch outside Metro Manila.
Conveniently connected to the mall, gohotels.ph Tacloban will have 98 rooms complete with the trademark gohotels.ph offerings, such as Wi-Fi connection, comfortable beds, rain showers and flat television sets at very affordable rates.
Magtibay said RLC is confident that gohotels.ph will do well in Tacloban and will no doubt help boost tourism in the region.
RLC has plans of putting up some 30 gohotels.ph within the next five years.
The expansion wing of Robinsons Place Tacloban is targeted to open in October, while gohotels.ph will open sometime during the last quarter of this year. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
