The live performance of Bonifacio Salubre, Licinio Lolo and Andrew Sanchez will be at Pagcor Grand Casino on Saturday.

“We are very grateful because we got overwhelming support from the people and public officials of Maasin City as Maasinhon Trio vie for a grand final slot at Pilipinas Got Talent- Season 3,” said Salubre.

The three were former members of the disbanded Menzvoyz Band; then for the love of singing, they formed a quartet with singing priest Fr. Dodong Cordovez. Maasinhon Trio was formed 15 years ago with the encouragement of Cordovez.

The group joined the 4th Bohol Pop Music Festival on the same year and won third prize.

The three performed with Maestro Ryan Cayabyab during the Gawad Kalinga fund raising show in Maasin City last August.

They sing at weddings, birthdays and other special occasions in Maasin City and other places in the province.

Sanchez, who is the base, plays the guitar, and Lolo, the tenor, plays the keyboard and drums. Both are also into composing songs.

Salubri, a Fire Officer I, is married to Rachiel Cutamora and blessed with two children.

Sanchez is a warehouse chief of Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative and Lolo is a supply officer of the Provincial Government.

The Audition

The three first auditioned for PGT-3 at the Leyte Normal University in Tacloban City last April and were called to go through the second level of audition called the “judges cull”.

“Auditioning for Pilipinas Got Talent for the second level last May 26 at SM in Cebu, was a very memorable experience for us. We were delighted after singing Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika, because the three judges did not only gave us three big yes but also gave praises and encouraging words, especially Ms. Kris Aquino who said ‘magkita kita tayo sa semi-finals’,” said Salubri.

The people of Maasin City are so excited to watch the October 8 live performance of Maasinhon Trio.

The City Government will gather all its employees to the gymnasium Saturday night to watch together and cast their votes through text for the singing trio.

Mayor Maloney Samaco gives his full support to the trio with the printing of tarpaulins placed at strategic places in the city and lent them vehicles for the campus and local government unit tours.

The “Taga Maasin Ka Kung…?” Facebook group of Maasinhons all over the world with 2,000 members are encouraged to cast their votes for the trio through the internet.

To vote, text PGT3 Maasinhon and send to 2331 for globe, TM and 231 for smart, TNT and sun subscriber.

The three toured some schools and university in Southern Leyte where they were treated like celebrities last September 29 and 30.

The Diocese of Maasin also lent support for the trio with priests announcing during masses to vote for Maasinhon Trio, the pride of Maasin and Southern Leyte. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
