A warrant for his arrest was issued last February 2 by Judge Crisologo Bitas, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court-Branch 7, Tacloban City. No bail was recommended by the court.
SPO4 Gerry Sudario, case investigator, said they are now coordinating with their counterparts in Luzon, with the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), on the manhunt against the accused.
“We have learned that he is now living with a relative. That is why, we have asked our counterparts in Luzon together with the NBI and the CIDG for his immediate arrest,” said Sudario in a phone interview.
He said the accused raped his student who was then 17 years old and second year student at the time of the incident in 2008.
The rape case was earlier dismissed by the prosecutor’s office but the parents of the girl appealed the decision by seeking help from the women’s group, Gabriela. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
