Guiuan to hold 12-kilometer pilgrims walk

GUIUAN, Eastern Samar -- Devotees coming from different places in Eastern Visayas will gather on June 12 for the Pilgrims Walk in honor of San Antonio de Padua, patron saint of Barangay Sulagan, this town.
Aurora De los Reyes, municipal tourism officer, said she is expecting more than 5,000 devotees who will be joining the 12-kilometer walk from the town proper at the Guiuan Church to Barangay Sulangan. It will start at 3 a.m.
De los Reyes said the activity is part of the tourism program of Guiuan Mayor Annaliza Gonzales-Kwan in coordination with different non-government organizations, the Church, Guiuan Media Bureau and senior citizens group.
She said the registration for the event is ongoing at the Duptours Terminal. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
