ABOUT 50 students from Giporlos, Eastern Samar will benefit from the Municipal College Assistance Program, which the administration of Mayor Mark Biong has implemented.
Mayor Biong, in an interview, told Leyte Samar Daily Express that the Municipal Government has scholarship grants this school year to benefit 50 college students especially those from underprivileged families.
“It is one of my top concerns that before my term as mayor ends, many of my constituents would be able to graduate with a college degree,” Biong explained.
He said college students who plan to avail of the scholarship program should visit their office and accomplish all the necessary requirements asked from them.
“Students who want to avail for this program must be from Giporlos. He also needs to present his birth certificate, community tax certificate (cedula), and entrance slip or enrolment form,” he said.
The Express learned that students who entitled for the grant are set to receive P2,500 per semester.
“We are only waiting for the approval of the appropriated budget for this scholarship program by the members of the Municipal Council,” Biong said. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
