Signature drive on water district expansion reaches Palace

TACLOBAN CITY – Local officials submitted to Malacañang on Thursday a letter signed by thousands of Taclobanons who are seeking Palace’s intervention in the Leyte Metropolitan Water District (LMWD) project.
The City Councilor earlier initiated a signature campaign on the water pipeline expansion project of the LMWD. The water district is having a problem with the City Government, which has not issued an expansion permit yet.
“To all our constituents, I can say that the signature campaign ended on a very high note,” Vice Mayor Arvin Antoni said.
Antoni, together with Councilors Neil Glova and Jerry Uy, personally handed the letter last Thursday. Antoni said they had a discussion with Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa.
The three are looking forward for an immediate action coming from Malacañang.
Earlier, executives of the City Hall denied that they are blocking the LMWD project, adding that all they want is for the agency to comply the requirements. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
