Red Cross honors blood donors

THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Leyte chapter recently honored individuals and organizations that donated blood.
The awardees were recognized in a ceremony last July 27, to commemorate the Blood Donors Month this July. The following awardees were: Bombo Radyo Tacloban that got the Blood Services Outstanding Award and the Philippine Public Safety College for the Scroll of Honor Award.
Given certificates of appreciation were the Traffic Operation Management Enforcement and Control Office (Tomeco); AMA Computer College; Alpha Phi Omega of UP-Visayas-Tacloban Campus; Palompon Institute of Technology; and Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Public Safety Batallion-Eastern Visayas.
Receivers of the merit certificates were 16 individuals, while the most applauded awardees were the Blood Galloners that donated a minimum of one gallon of blood at 450cc per donation. They were Renan Estrada II, Maurice Ja Canes, Arjhun Gaviola, Jose Isarelito Orendez and Henry Metran.
Leyte first district Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez was the guest of honor. He handed the plaques and Red Cross pins to the awardees.
PRC-Leyte chairman Miguel Tezon thanked all the donors and encouraged them to donate more, adding that they should invite their relatives and friends to also donate blood.
The ceremony was held at the activity area of Robinsons Mall in the city.
A mass blood-letting was held for two hours collecting 40 bags each containing 450cc. It was attended by other members of the Board of Directors, PRC staff, government officials and other guests. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
