CATARMAN, Northern Samar -- Israel Ambassador Menasha Bar-on said the governments of the Philippines and Israel will establish a coordinative extension and training center in agriculture in the province.
Bar-on arrived in the country Tuesday to visit Northern Samar. He was met by Governor Paul Daza, members of the Provincial Board and other officials represented by Vice Mayor Tantan Uy.
The Philippine-Israel Center for Agricultural Training is a project between the State of Israel and the Republic of the Philippines that aims to integrate agricultural extension with research and development.
Bar-on said this will promote farm productivity, profitability, and sustainability in the agricultural sector in Northern Samar, to provide better living standards of communities.
Israel also offers scholarships to three or four students from the University of Eastern Philippines enrolled in agro studies.
Qualified students will attend 11 months of studies on agricultural methods and technology in the campuses of Ruppin Academic Center and Tel Chai College (North of Israel). (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
